Story
From the Wild West to the Modern Frontier.
The spirit of the Wild West was never just about dust and grit—it was about defiance, resilience, and the fearless pursuit of freedom. Women of the frontier stood like blackberry vines—rooted deep, thriving in the harshest landscapes, their strength woven with both thorns and abundance. They carved out legacies, fought for their place, and stood unshaken against the elements.
Time has moved forward, but the fire remains. The new frontier is no longer just open plains and endless sky—it is boardrooms, city streets, and places of power. Yet still, the essence of the blackberry bush endures—a testament to those who flourish not in spite of their wildness, but because of it.
Zarza is built for her—the one who is both thorned and thriving, fierce and refined, rooted in tradition yet unbound by expectation. The armor of the past becomes the elegance of today, stitched into leather, silver, and craftsmanship that honors where we’ve been while embracing where we’re headed.
The blackberry does not wait for permission to grow—it claims its space, wild and unapologetic. The West was never meant to be conquered—it was meant to be claimed.
This is the new frontier.
A Personal Note.
Zarza started because I found something. I wasn’t looking for anything in particular when I found the box.
It was tucked in the back of a drawer, beneath old letters and yellowed receipts—one of those things you forget you’ve kept, until it finds you again. The outside was nothing special. Just a simple wooden box, worn at the edges, the latch slightly rusted. But inside, it felt like the air changed.
There were a few pieces of jewelry wrapped in soft, thinning fabric—silver that had lost some of its shine, but none of its weight. You could tell they had been worn. Not for show, but for meaning. Each one felt like it had a story, even if no one remembered the details. And for a moment, I just sat with them, quietly overwhelmed by the feeling that I was holding something that had mattered.
That feeling stayed with me.
Not the idea of making jewelry exactly, or boots, or bags—but the idea of making something that lasts, and more than that, something that holds memory. Pieces that don’t shout for attention, but stay with you—through seasons, through years. Things that feel like they were always meant to be yours.
That’s where Zarza began. Not with a plan or a pitch. Just with a quiet moment, a found box, and the feeling that something simple, made well, could mean more than we give it credit for–and Zarza was born.
What’s in a name?
“Zarza” is a shortened version of the Spanish word “zarzamora” that means blackberry—and that’s our symbol.
I love the idea of the blackberry bush. How it grows anywhere—pushing through fences, winding around whatever’s in its way. It doesn’t wait to be invited, it just takes up space. And after all that? It gives something so rich, so deep, it looks like a jewel. But you don’t get to it without the thorns.
That’s how I see women. That’s how I see us. Strong, complicated, and completely worth it. And if nothing else, I hope Zarza reminds you of that.
